Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, along with Alhaji Yakubu Alhassan-Tali, the Managing Director of the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB), has presented a cheque of GHC1 million to Ms Charity Akortia, theN2023 National Best Farmer.
During the presentation, Dr. Bryan Acheampong commended Charity Akortia for her outstanding achievement in winning the 2023 National Best Farmer award.
He expressed his gratitude to the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) for their continuous support for Ghanaian farmers.
Ms Akortia, a 57-year-old woman from the Agona West Municipality in the Central Region, was honoured as the National Best Farmer for 2023 at the 39th edition of the awards ceremony held in Tarkwa, Western Region on December 5, 2023.
She expressed her deep appreciation to the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) for their generous contribution and ongoing support of farmers across the country. In an interview, Ms. Charity Akortia also thanked the Agriculture Minister and the entire ministry for their unwavering support, encouraging the youth to consider a career in agriculture.
Alhaji Yakubu Alhassan-Tali, Managing Director of ADB, reiterated the bank’s commitment to ensuring the agriculture sector continues to play a vital role in the nation’s development. He emphasized that ADB, as the preferred financial institution for farmers and fishers, was honoured to sponsor the 2023 National Farmers’ Day celebrations, as they have done in previous years.
“We are here to fulfil our sponsorship of GH¢1 million to the 2023 National Best Farmer and the government through the Ministry to rededicate our commitment to enhance our investment in the agricultural sector.”
