The Accra Circuit Court has convicted Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, a former chief priestess turned evangelist, on charges of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.
The conviction relates to a 2022 televised broadcast in which she claimed to possess spiritual powers to double money for the public. Following the broadcast, several individuals reportedly handed over large sums of money with the expectation of receiving double in return—an expectation that was never fulfilled.
The court found that her actions constituted deliberate deception under the guise of religious or spiritual practice.
Before sentencing, the court has ordered Nana Agradaa to undergo a pregnancy test, in accordance with judicial procedures concerning female convicts. Sentencing will be delivered after the results are confirmed.
Further details regarding the length and nature of the sentence are expected in the coming days.
