Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto has suspended all his campaigns to mourn with Ex-president Kufuor following the demise of the former President’s wife.
The former Ghana’s First Lady, Mrs Theresa Kufuor, born Nee Mensah died yesterday aged, 87.
Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, in Kumasi, the former Agric Minister stated that, his team planned on embarking on a grassroot campaign in the Ashanti Region, however all activities have been halted due to sad demise of late Theresa Kufuor.
“We were about to start a massive campaign in Kumasi ahead of NPP’s presidential primaries. But unfortunately, my elder brother, J.A Kufuor former President is bereaved. The woman she’s been living with for more than 60 years died yesterday. As a result, we’ve suspended all campaigns we planned to undertake in Ashanti Region for delegates to hear our voice.
This is a sign of respect to Kufuor and the NPP because we can’t continue to campaign whilst we’re bereaved.” Dr Akoto said.
He however charged the NPP delegates to consider voting for him on November 4.
