According to a reliable source from the police, the final-year student of Adisadel College captured in a viral video violently assaulting a junior in a dormitory has been arrested.
The disclosure was made in a text message to Sometymer Otuo Acheampong, host of Oyerepa Breakfast Show, Tuesday.
According to the source, the student is in the custody of the Cape Coast Police.
He is suspended from writing the impending West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the school.
“From reliable source, the student has been handed over to police and is also not going to write WASSCE in the school”, the text message said.
Recall that, a viral video of an Adisadel College student molesting his junior hit the internet yesterday.
A statement from the school’s authority noted that: “the incident happened on the 30th of June, 2023 in Quaque house.”
In the said video, the senior holds the victim from behind and moves him in between beds before slamming his face on one of the bunk beds.
The portion of the face that hit the bed immediately is swollen as other students look on.
In the meantime, the affected student has also been suspended; the one who recorded the incident and other witnesses who failed to report it will be subjected to varying degrees of sanctions as well as the housemaster and his deputy.
The move comes after GES issued a statement ordering the suspension of the student and asking that the police be invited into the matter as it contained assault.
