The Adanse family of Ngleshie Alata Jamestown has made an urgent appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, to intervene in the ongoing chieftaincy dispute in the area.
At a press conference, Apostle Eric Nii Dodoo Amoo, General Secretary of the Nii Ahuma Kojo family, explained that the Ajumako Dawurampong ruling house had completed its tenure following the passing of Oblempong Nii Kojo Ababio V, who reigned for 39 years (1978-2017).
According to customary laws and natural justice, the Adanse ruling gate nominated, selected, and installed Mr. Henry Nunoo Koppoe as Oblempong Nii Ahuma Kojo III on October 29, 2018, after he swore the oath of allegiance and office without any protests from the royal family.
Apostle Eric Nii Dodoo Amoo emphasized that Nii Ahuma Kojo III is the legitimate Ngleshie Alata Jamestown Mantse, and they do not recognize anyone named Prince Quaye as a claimant to the throne.
Nii Ahuma Kojo III, the Ngleshie Alata Jamestown Mantse, cautioned authorities against prioritizing financial gain over proper protocol, emphasizing the need to maintain traditional order to avoid chieftaincy disputes. He publicly clarified that Prince Asharku Bruce Quaye’s claim to the throne is illegitimate, as he does not hail from either of the two ruling gates.
The Adanse family is seeking a peaceful and lasting solution to the dispute, urging the President and Minister to ensure justice is served. They called for the authorities to prioritize truth and accuracy, ensuring that traditional matters are handled correctly to preserve peace and stability.
