Abu Trica remanded again, case adjourned

The Gbese District Court on Wednesday, February 25, remanded Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, into police custody following his re-arrest by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).

The court adjourned the case to March 18, 2026, as extradition proceedings to the United States continue.

Abu Trica’s re-arrest comes shortly after he and his co-accused were discharged by the same court in relation to an indictment by U.S. authorities over an alleged $8 million romance scam targeting elderly Americans. The scheme, which drew international attention, accused him and others of orchestrating fraudulent online activities.

Although the court did not disclose specific reasons for the re-arrest, Abu Trica will remain in custody pending his next appearance.
