Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Founder and CEO of the Atta-Mills Institute (AMI), Mr. Samuel Koku Sitsofe Anyidoho, has experienced his total support for the abolishment of the mandatory national service, as said by the Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Bawumia.
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, disclosed in his address to the nation his intention to nullify the mandatory national service in Ghana, saying that when he is voted into office, the national service will no longer be mandatory.
According to the flagbearer, this policy seeks to help the youth get jobs, and he is optimistic that it is time to rethink the concept of our current national service scheme.
Koku Anyidoho, speaking in an interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, explained that this is one of the most brilliant policies in the history of Ghana and gave his full support to that policy.
“For me, this is a progressive policy, and it is one of the innovative policies that really caught my attention,” he stated.
Adding to that, students are expressing so much joy after the declaration of this particular policy by Dr. Bawumia.
I picked up information from my boys at various campuses, and honestly speaking, it came as a shock,” he said.
“Students are now going to be happy about this policy because once they are with school, they can straight away go ahead and work when they get the opportunity after school without having to embark on a mandatory national service,” he noted.
However, he declared his full support and endorsement for this policy from Dr. Bawumia.
