A private legal practitioner, Lawyer William Kusi has slammed the leadership of the Ashanti regional New Patriotic Party for choosing the Regional Coordinating Council as a venue for its regional elections.
According to him, the person who approved the venue should bow his head in shame.
“The person who planned of using the Regional Coordinating (RCC) as a venue for election should bow his head in shame,” The lawyer stated on Oyerepa Breakfast Time.
He, however, expressed disappointment in the process of the NPP internal elections.
With the exception of the incumbent Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the other four contestants do not support the selected venue.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simmon Osei Mensah, who is on the Regional Elections Committee, stated on Oyerepa FM that his official residence has been selected as the venue to host the NPP polls.
According to the Minister, RCC is the only place where he “can guarantee the security of the process.”
But, Lawyer Kusi argued that NPP is not the state. He urged the party to rent a private place for their elections.
He asserted that the regional minister who chose RCC as a venue for their election has a problem.
“This Regional Minister has a problem; you are using state facility for part activities and he (The Minister) said there’s no problem with it. The Minister should know that the Party is different from the state”. Lawyer Kusi told Akua Asieduwaa host of the show.
