A non-governmental organization (NGO), The Bisland Charity Foundation has cut sod for the construction of a borehole at Amoa-Apagya, a community in the Afigya Kwabere South District of the Ashanti Region.
The project forms part of the foundation’s cooperate social responsibility.
The project is estimated at a cost of GHc300,000 and is expected to be completed in May 2023
Speaking at the ceremony on Wednesday, the Founder of The Bisland Charity Foundation, Mr James Donkor Jnr indicated that his outfit aims at embarking on charitable works in the country.
According to him, the borehole is going to be a modern one.
“We have in hand an amount of GHC300,000 to fund this project.
It’s going to be an ultramodern one because we love this community (Apagya).”
The founder however advised the people to take proper care of the borehole after its completion.
The chief of Amoa-Apagya (Apagyahene), Nana Owusu Peprah II on the other hand expressed much gratification to the Bisland Charity Foundation for the kind gesture.
“I thank my son {Mr James Donkor Jnr} for the charity. He has shown a great deal of responsibility and love to the community in which he lives.”
“He has single-handedly constructed some routes here in Apagya, because of his love for this community.” Nana Peprah said.
The Apagyahene pleaded with the foundation to further extend a helping hand to complete the Apagya community centre.
“I like to plead with the foundation to help us complete our community centre.”
Speaking about some confronting challenges, Nana Apagyahene indicated that, his community lacks a market. Again, the deplorable state of the road linking Apagya, Kodie and neighbouring communities is affecting day-to-day activities. For this reason, the government should fix it.
The Bisland Charity Foundation also presented Books, jerseys and desktop computers to the Apagya community.
