Residents of Akrokere in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region are in shock and fear following the tragic discovery of a 29-year-old pregnant woman, Ama Rita, and her two-year-old daughter, both found dead under mysterious circumstances.
The victims were located about 20 meters apart near a stream, showing visible signs of assault, raising suspicions of foul play.
According to Mr. Ernest Appiah Sampson, Assembly Member for the Biribi Wo Oman Yi Mu Electoral Area, confirmed the incident.
He revealed that based on observations at the scene, Ama Rita appeared to have struggled with her attackers before being overpowered.
Describing the situation as heartbreaking, Hon. Appiah Sampson recounted receiving a distress call from community members, prompting him and his unit committee to report the case to the police.
He further stated that the bodies had been at the location for approximately four days before being discovered.
Ama Rita was known as a hardworking trader who sold kenkey and other food items, particularly during funerals in the area. Her sudden and tragic death has left the community deeply unsettled.
The bodies have since been deposited at the Obuasi Dwaden OD Mortuary, while police investigations continue to uncover the truth behind this horrific crime.
