A 65-year-old man been burnt to death at at Kyerease, a suburb of Kronom in the Suame Municipal of the Ashanti Region after fire gutted a compound house.
Ten out of the 15 rooms of the compound house have been burnt down completely.
The fire, according eye witness, a mobile money vender who lives in the house started on Monday evening around 4 PM.
The main cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be identified by the Ghana fire service but the eyewitness believes the fire might have been caused by an electrical fault.
“I’m a mobile money vender just behind the house, so I came home to give my mom some money to cook food around 4 PM.. When I was leaving the house, I smelled that something was burning, so I turned around and saw one of the rooms in flames and I shouted for help. The rooms in the compound house were 15 but 10 are burnt beyond recognition.” Eyewitness told the press.

His body has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.
“The man was bedridden and couldn’t escape during the blaze” an eyewitness revealed.
Reports say it took the fire service about an hour to quench the outbreak.
The Ashanti region according to the Ghana National Fire Service’s statistics since January 2022 has recorded over 60 fire outbreaks.
