Amoah-Apagya, a community situated in the Afigya Kwabere South District of the Ashanti Region, has undergone a remarkable transformation thanks to the efforts of the Bisland Charity Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO).
With the aim of enhancing the lives of the residents, the NGO has undertaken a series of initiatives, including the construction of a merchandise borehole and the installation of an electricity transformer. These projects were designed to address crucial needs of the community, such as access to clean water and reliable electricity.
The water project commenced approximately three months ago and was officially inaugurated yesterday, June 29, 2023. It will serve as a vital water source for the residents of Amoah-Apagya, who previously lacked access to clean drinking water.
During a brief ceremony to mark the commissioning of the water project, Mr James Donkor Jr., CEO of the Bisland Charity Foundation, expressed the organization’s belief in the necessity of establishing a reliable water source for the people of Apagya.
He revealed that certain parts of the community were without electricity, prompting discussions with stakeholders and resulting in the installation of a 200KVA transformer to provide power to the households.
“We were informed of the urgent need for potable water in this community, so the Bisland Charity Foundation took it upon itself to construct a borehole for the residents. We began this project on March 29, 2023, and today, we are proud to officially commission it. Additionally, we recognized that some areas of Apagya were lacking electricity, so we made the decision to install a 200KVA transformer to supply power to numerous households,” Mr. James Donkor Jr. CEO of the Bisland Charity Foundation disclosed.
Furthermore, the NGO generously donated books, desktop computers, and a cheque for GHC5000 to the Apagya Anglican Basic School, in order to facilitate teaching and learning activities.
The Chief of Amoah Apagya, Nana Owusu Peprah II, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Bisland Charity Foundation for their tremendous support to his community. He emphasized that the foundation has provided immense assistance to Apagya, deserving commendations for their efforts.
However, he earnestly pleaded with the authorities of the Afigya Kwabere South District to prioritize the improvement of the road connecting Kodie, Apagya, and nearby communities, urging them to refrain from engaging in political games.
In addition to his gratitude, the Apagyahene proudly commissioned a market that he personally built for the benefit of his people. This market will serve as a hub for economic activities and contribute to the growth and development of the community.
