President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two individuals for key local government positions in the Ashanti Region, subject to approval by their respective assemblies.
The nominations—made in line with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936)—were announced in a press release from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Ibrahim Issahaq has been nominated to serve as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Atwima Mponua District, while Yakubu Issifu is the nominee for Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Asante Mampong Municipality.
According to the statement signed by Minister Ahmed Ibrahim, the appointments are part of the government’s broader agenda to enhance local governance and ensure effective grassroots development.
The Ministry stressed that the nominations remain pending until they are confirmed by the respective district and municipal assemblies.
