Students of Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital have hit the streets on Monday morning to protest after a vehicle knocked down one of their teachers.
The teacher according to reports was hit by a vehicle last Friday in front of the school.
According to a report by eye witness on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the students blocked the Abrepo Junction – Barekese route making vehicular movement very difficult.
He said the demonstration was very tense so the Ghana police were called to intervene.
The police fired a series of gunshots before they could disperse the irate demonstrators.
At the moment calm has been restored but a teacher of the school has been arrested.
But over 30 students have collapsed, and others injured and transported to the hospital for emergency treatment.
The female who was knocked down is said to be in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Reports suggest that many teachers of the School have suffered injuries due to frequent vehicular knockdowns.
