The recent publications on the attendance of Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament for Kumawu, are factually inaccurate and misleading.
Citi News has published that Hon. Anim was absent for 21 days, while JoyOnline has published that he was absent for 11 days. These two conflicting figures alone raise a fundamental question: what is the source of their information, and which of the two media houses is quoting the facts?
We wish to place on record that Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim has been diligent and consistent in the performance of his Parliamentary duties. He has actively participated in plenary sittings and continues to commit fully to his responsibilities as Chairman of the Human Rights Committee and a Member of the Public Accounts Committee before recess, during recess, and upon resumption.
Further, Parliamentary procedure is clear: MPs who are unavoidably absent formally seek leave, and such leave is duly granted. Hon. Anim has always complied with this established procedure.
We therefore call on the media houses involved especially Citi News to take immediate steps to verify the true attendance records from the appropriate Parliamentary source and to correct the misinformation accordingly. In the interest of fairness, accuracy, and journalistic integrity, we expect a retraction and clarification at the earliest opportunity.
