Ghanaian actress and television personality, Emelia Brobbey has unveiled the reason why some people don’t find interest in patronizing Ghana-made films.
Arguably, the Ghanaian movie industry is currently struggling to stand on it’s feet. A lot of people prefer other movies (telenovelas) over the Ghana-made movies.
As a result, Emelia Brobbey believes that, “Ghanaians are not interested in buying our local movies. We don’t have the shops anymore and we don’t have CD selling points so apart from cinema premiers, you can’t get the movies to vendors (marketers) across the country to sell for you.”
The “Makoma” hitmaker comparing the local movie industry to other African countries, she could not boast of Ghana being in the lead but she is optimistic industry players will try their best to bring local movies to lime light.
“No one has taken the movies from us. We’re still producing our movies, just that the demand for our movies have depreciated as compared to 3 or 4 years ago where we were making good sales. Subsequently, we’re working very hard to revive the industry” she noted.
