Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr George Kwabena Obeng Takyi has entreated students to search for practical equipment on whatever they are taught.
The lawmaker statement is in relation to the government quest to implement teaching and learning of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in the country. The program according to the NPP government will leverage Science and Technology for socio-economic transformation in the country.
But the Manso Nkwanta lawmaker believes that, despite the government effort to establish STEM education, students should also make it a responsibility to get practical equipment on every subject of study.
“STEM education is not new; it has been in existence for a period of time. Our children must not limit themselves to the government, they must make effort to look for practical tools because the government cannot provide everything. A good student does not wait for someone before taking a step, let us learn how to make use of the slightest opportunity we get”. Mr Takyi made the assertion on Oyerepa Breakfast Time Wednesday, with Mr. Bismark Brown .
He further advised parents and guidance to support their wards financially and should also provide them the necessary equipment they will need in their career.
“Every child has a special gift, so let us support our children to establish their talent by providing them the necessary equipment”. He added.
