Titus Glover emerges NPP National Organiser
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected Titus Glover as its National Organiser, while John Boadu and Justin Frimpong Kodua have secured the positions of National Chairman and General Secretary respectively.
The elections were held at the party’s National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, as more than 7,000 delegates voted to elect officers to nine national positions.
Titus Glover, a former Greater Accra Regional Minister, emerged victorious in the National Organiser race with 2,964 votes.
He defeated Ali Maiga, who polled 2,231 votes, while Kwame A. Prempeh secured 445 votes. Agyenim Boateng obtained 105 votes, Emmanuel Korsi Bordja polled 135, and Archibold Korletey received 85 votes.
In the National Chairman contest, former NPP General Secretary John Boadu narrowly edged former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko to secure the position.
Mr Boadu polled 2,088 votes, compared with Mr Agyarko’s 2,048, while former National Chairman Paul Afoko obtained 490 votes.
Mr Boadu’s victory came after a last-minute development in the race, with fellow aspirant Sammy Crabbe withdrawing his candidacy and asking his supporters to vote for him.
Mr Crabbe announced his decision after voting began on Saturday. Mr Boadu had also been identified as one of the leading contenders in pre-election surveys conducted ahead of the conference.
Justin Frimpong Kodua, meanwhile, retained his position as General Secretary after securing a commanding 4,486 votes.
Former Ngleshie Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh placed second with 1,340 votes, while Eugene Boakye Antwi and Dr Charles Dwamena polled 162 and 126 votes respectively.
The party also elected Abanga Fuseini Yakubu as National Youth Organiser.
Mr Yakubu secured 1,550 votes to win the position ahead of five other aspirants. Clement Opoku Gyamfi followed with 631 votes, while Michael Osei Boateng obtained 78 votes, Vera Oye Bram-Larbi had 44, and Alfred Kumi Ababio polled 25 votes.
The results form part of a major leadership reshuffle within the NPP as the party elects new national executives to steer its organisational and grassroots activities in the coming years.
