Two people have died, while another is in critical condition following a road crash involving an Okada motorcycle and a passenger vehicle at the Kasoa Jei River NDC Junction in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

The accident occurred at dawn when the motorcycle, carrying two female passengers, reportedly collided with a moving passenger vehicle.

Eyewitnesses said residents who heard the impact rushed to the scene and found the three occupants of the motorcycle lying injured.

The victims were identified as the motorcycle rider and the two female passengers. One of the women, believed to be in her late 40s, was reportedly unwell and was being taken to hospital at the time of the crash.

Speaking to Nana Ansah, an eyewitness, Kazabara Sogbe, said the rider was allegedly rushing to get the sick woman to the hospital when the motorcycle collided with the passenger vehicle.

The sick woman died at the scene, while the Okada rider later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

Her daughter, who also sustained serious injuries in the crash, is currently receiving treatment at the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital and is said to be in critical condition.

Mr Sogbe expressed concern about what he described as overspeeding and reckless riding by some motorcycle operators in the area. He appealed to the authorities to consider constructing speed ramps along that stretch of the road to help reduce speeding and prevent further accidents.
