The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged possession and attempted delivery of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The suspects were arrested after Police intercepted a Toyota Voxy minibus at the Kasoa High Tension snap checkpoint at about 2:30 a.m. on September 20, 2026.

According to the Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Nchor, a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs allegedly in the possession of one of the suspects, identified as Asando Asakiba.

During questioning, Asando allegedly told investigators that the substances had been given to him by Beatrice Amegashie to be delivered to a person identified only as Akos in Tarkwa.

The suspect subsequently led the Police to Amegashie’s residence at Ayikai Dobro, where officers conducted a search.

The search reportedly resulted in the discovery of six yellow sellotaped parcels containing dried leaves labelled “GREEN GOLD”, two transparent zip-lock bags containing dried leaves, and another zip-lock bag containing a whitish substance.

The substances have been suspected to be narcotic drugs and are expected to be subjected to further examination as part of the investigation.

The two suspects have been remanded into Police custody while investigations continue to establish the source and intended destination of the substances and determine whether other persons were involved.
