Three suspects linked to the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old mobile phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, popularly known as Dinero, have appeared before the Teshie District Court as police investigations into his death continue.

The suspects, Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai, were arraigned before the court and had the charges read to them before leaving the court. The case has been adjourned to October 16, 2026.

Kyere was reported missing on September 22 after he left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic but failed to return.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that he was allegedly lured to the residence of Philip Tefe at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.

According to the Police, the two suspects subsequently confessed to their alleged involvement. Tefe is said to have admitted that he attacked Kyere during a confrontation and struck him with a metallic object.

Investigators said Kyere was later moved to another room and left unattended, where he eventually died.

The Police further allege that his body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to an area near the motorway on September 20, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze.

The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 the following day.

Kyere’s biological mother and an uncle later identified the remains at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.

As part of the investigation, the Police have also recovered Kyere’s iPhone 12, which Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The buyer, identified as Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained on suspicion of dishonestly receiving the phone.

Obodai was arrested over his alleged involvement in the disposal of Kyere’s body, while his father’s Kia Morning, which investigators believe was used to transport the body, has been impounded.

The three suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding Kyere’s death and determine whether other persons were involved.
