The Women’s Ministry of The Salvation Army, Accra Division, has held its annual Thanksgiving and Prayer Service at the Nungua Corps with a call on young women to dress decently and live modestly.

The event, held on the theme “To Be Like Jesus – Philippians 2:5”, brought together women from various branches in Accra to pray for themselves, their families and the nation. It was also used to raise funds to support the activities of the Ministry.

In an interview, the Divisional Director for Women’s Ministry, Major Vida Agyei Dankwa, said the service was to appreciate God’s goodness from January to date.

Quoting Psalm 116:12 – “What shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?” – she said it was amazing how women go through pregnancy, childbirth, care for their families and still work to support the home, noting that such strength comes from God and must be appreciated with thanksgiving.

Major Dankwa advised women to dress in accordance with biblical teachings and to desist from fornication and other negative behaviours.

For her part, the Divisional Secretary for Women’s Ministry, Major Grace Wiafe Asante, said the objective of the Ministry is to train women and young girls to fear God.

She said when young girls are brought up in the fear of God, they would always do what is right and make the right choices, especially in marriage.

Major Asante further stressed the importance of education and urged women to support their husbands to provide quality education for their children to secure their future.
