Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has pledged to prioritise unity and rebuild the party’s grassroots structures if elected National Chairman.

Speaking during his campaign tour of the Western, Central and Eastern Regions, Mr Afoko said he was confident the NPP could return to government in 2028 if its members put aside their differences and work together.

He said his proposed 3Rs Campaign Blueprint—Reunite, Rebuild and Recapture Power—would focus on resolving internal divisions, strengthening the party’s structures and preparing the NPP for the 2028 general election.

“I do not have a magic wand, but I can assure you that if we close our ranks and rally behind me to become the National Chairman, we have only two years to stay in opposition, and then power will be ours,” he told constituency executives.

According to Mr Afoko, the NPP has the organisational strength and resources required for an electoral comeback, but internal divisions remain a major challenge.

“We have all the ingredients for victory. What we lack is unity. My message to every constituency, every region, is simple: set aside our differences, reunite as one family, and rebuild the structures that have made us formidable in the past,” he said.

He also pledged to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, improve the organisation of constituency and polling station structures, and restore confidence among party supporters he said had felt neglected in recent years.

Mr Afoko said the proposed reforms would be geared towards rebuilding the party’s organisational capacity and positioning it for the 2028 general election.

The NPP’s National Chairman election is scheduled for October 3, with Mr Afoko continuing his engagements with delegates ahead of the contest at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
