C/R: Death toll rises to four as police arrest seven over Gomoa–New Winneba clash

The death toll from the clash between the youth of Gomoa and New Winneba in the Central Region has risen from three to four, while the number of injured persons has increased from 15 to 17.

The Ghana Police Service has also arrested seven persons in connection with the violent confrontation, which reportedly stemmed from a land dispute.

According to reports, some youth from Gomoa Yensuadze, Gomoa Pomadze, Asebu and other neighbouring communities confronted residents of New Winneba in the Effutu North area, resulting in the deadly clash.

The police have confirmed that four people have died, 17 others have sustained injuries, and seven persons have so far been arrested in connection with the incident.

The situation remains under police investigation as authorities work to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
