KASOA: Traditional leaders call for removal of MCE Seth Banini
The Kasoa Ofaakor Odupong Traditional Authorities have called for the immediate removal of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Seth Serwonoo Banini, accusing him of gross incompetence and disrespect towards traditional authorities.
The traditional leaders made the demand during the celebration of the 2026 Awubia Festival in Kasoa, where they raised concerns about the administration and development of the municipality.
According to the Boundary Chief of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Atopi, the MCE has, since assuming office, presided over what the traditional authorities described as a non-performing Municipal Assembly.
They cited the latest ranking of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Central Region, which placed the Awutu Senya East Municipality at the bottom.
Nai Atopi stressed that the traditional authorities did not want Banini to continue serving as MCE in the area, arguing that a new leader should be appointed who would work effectively with traditional authorities to promote development in the municipality.
The Mankrado of the Odupong Ofaakor Stool, Nai Darko Ankrah, and the Odikro of Kasoa, Nai Saani Seidu, also expressed strong opposition to what they described as attempts to use political authority to intimidate traditional leaders.
They maintained that political power should not be used to undermine the authority of traditional institutions and emphasised the need for mutual respect and cooperation between the Municipal Assembly and traditional authorities.
The traditional leaders called for greater collaboration between the Assembly and traditional institutions to accelerate development and address the concerns of residents in the municipality.
