McBrown opens up on her decision to keep house helps away from Maxin
Ghanaian actress and television personality Nana Ama McBrown has disclosed that she has deliberately chosen a family-based arrangement to care for her daughter, Maxine Mawusi Mensah, popularly known as Maxin, rather than employ a house help.
The actress explained that her younger sister currently stays with Maxin while she is away attending to her demanding professional schedule. McBrown said she financially supports her sister at the end of each month for taking on the responsibility of caring for her daughter.
“Right now, I don’t have a house help. I have asked my younger sister to stay at home and take care of my daughter. I give her money at the end of the month so she doesn’t get angry with me,” she said.
The Nana Ama McBrown decision, according to her, is largely influenced by concerns about the safety and welfare of children left under the supervision of people they do not know well.
She expressed reservations about entrusting Maxin to a stranger, warning that some caregivers could potentially mistreat children in their care.
“I don’t want any house help or nieces. They could harm your kids,” she said.
McBrown’s comments have reignited the wider conversation about childcare, particularly the challenges parents face when relying on domestic workers while balancing demanding careers.
For the actress, however, having a trusted relative directly involved in Maxin’s upbringing offers her greater peace of mind while she continues her work in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
