Ghanaian singer Dennis Nana Dwamena, known professionally as KiDi, has singled out fellow musician Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, popularly known as Darkovibes, as an exceptional talent who has not received the level of recognition he deserves.

The ‘Lomo Lomo’ hitmaker, who described himself as a passionate admirer of Darkovibes, said he has followed his colleague’s music for years and considers himself one of his biggest supporters.

“I’ve always been a Darkovibes fan. Up to now, nobody be biggest Darkovibes fan pass me,” he stated.

KiDi further demonstrated his admiration by mentioning some of the songs he enjoys, suggesting that people who genuinely follow Darkovibes’ music would understand why he rates him highly.

“See, I go fit list plenty. You hear Siamese Twins, Exactly, you no be Darkovibes fan, you no go understand,” he said.

He argued that despite Darkovibes’ distinctive sound and contribution to Ghana’s contemporary music scene, the artiste has not been sufficiently celebrated by the Ghanaian public.

“I feel like Ghanaians dey sleep on Darkovibes. Darkovibes is a gem. He’s a gem wey we no fit carry,” he added.

Darkovibes, a member of the music collective La Même Gang, has built a reputation for his alternative Afrobeats and genre-blending style, while songs such as ‘Sowutuom’, ‘Stay Woke’ and ‘Tomorrow’ have helped establish his place in Ghana’s modern music landscape.

KiDi’s comments have reignited discussion about how Ghanaian audiences recognise homegrown talent, with his central argument being that Darkovibes deserves considerably more appreciation for his artistic contribution.
