The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested Abdulai Mohammed Saani, aged 27 years, in connection with a provocative TikTok video concerning the death of the late Mion Lana, Mahamaru Abdulai.

Following the circulation of the video, the Regional Police Intelligence Department (PID), in collaboration with the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID), commenced intelligence-led enquiries to identify the person responsible for its production and dissemination.

The suspect was identified and subsequently traced to Kumbungu, where he was arrested on 20th August 2026 and transported to the Northern Regional Police Headquarters, Tamale, to assist with investigations.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the production and dissemination of the video, as well as the involvement of any other persons connected to the matter.
