A newborn baby has been found abandoned in a dustbin at the Kasoa Main Station public toilet in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

The baby was discovered by a woman who had gone to the facility to use the toilet. According to eyewitnesses, the woman was shocked to find the newborn inside the dustbin and immediately raised an alarm.

Commercial drivers and other bystanders who responded to the situation quickly rescued the baby and rushed her to the Kasoa Polyclinic for medical attention.

The newborn has since been admitted to the facility and is receiving treatment under the care of medical personnel. She is reportedly in stable condition.

The incident has been reported to the police, who have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the abandonment and identify the person responsible.

Eyewitnesses who spoke in an interview with Nana Ansah Matthew said the baby was found inside the dustbin with pieces of tissue reportedly covering her.

The circumstances leading to the abandonment remain unclear as police investigations continue.
