IK Ogbonna breaks silence on struggle to cope with Alexx Ekubo’s death
Nigerian actor Ik Ogbonna has opened up about the emotional weight of losing his close friend and fellow actor Alexx Ekubo, admitting that the tragedy has affected his willingness to engage with fans online.
In a video shared, Ik Ogbonna thanked those who have stood by him and Alexx Ekubo’s loved ones with messages, prayers and encouragement since the actor’s passing.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone that has shown support with your love, prayers and kind words. It has not been easy. I don’t know if this is something I would ever be out of, but I pray that with time, I will be able to get out of it,” he said.
The actor described the loss as a painful experience for Alexx’s family, friends, fans and colleagues, saying the impact of his death has been difficult to process.
“It’s been a very crazy period for not just myself but for friends, fans and family of Alexx. His death is a big blow, honestly,” he stated.
Ogbonna also revealed that grief has changed his relationship with social media over the past three months. Although he continues to take photographs and record videos, he said he often lacks the emotional drive to publish them.
“For the past three months, I have not been very active on my social media; it’s not like I don’t want to, but I guess it’s a psychological thing. I will make pictures and videos, but I don’t have the zeal to post them,” he shared.
Despite the pain, the actor acknowledged that he must eventually resume his professional responsibilities and gradually return to his normal routine.
“We have to get back to work somehow, someway,” he added.
Ogbonna’s remarks offer a glimpse into the lasting effect of losing a close friend, while his decision to speak publicly highlights the difficulty of balancing grief with the demands of public life.
