Cocoa Price Won’t Be Reduced Mid-Season Under Bawumia – NPP

The New Patriotic Party’s Agriculture Policy Committee has stated emphatically that the next NPP administration, under Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will not reduce the cocoa producer price mid-season once it has been announced.

Speaking at a press conference, Dr. Isaac Yaw Opoku, co-chair of the NPP Agric Policy Committee and Ranking Member on Cocoa Affairs and Agriculture, said the party is committed to price certainty for farmers.

“A price announced to the Ghanaian farmer will be a price honored to the Ghanaian farmer,” Dr. Opoku said. “The next NPP administration under Dr. Bawumia will not reduce the producer price of cocoa mid-season once it has been announced.”

He stressed the strategic importance of the cocoa sector to the national economy and said the NPP, together with industry stakeholders and civil society, will closely monitor the implementation of PNDC Law 57 season by season.
