A/R: Bulk tanker spills 13,500 litres of diesel at Odumase Afrancho

The Ghana National Fire Service has said it contained a diesel spillage involving a bulk tanker at Odumase Afrancho near the Liberty Fuel Station off the Trede Road in the Ashanti Region.

The Service explained that a Benz bulk tanker spilled 13,500 litres of diesel on Friday, August 8, 2026, after the vehicle fell on its side due to a steering lock.

The incident was reported at 4:20 PM. BOST Fire Post appliance DPT FS 730, led by LFM Tuffour Kwakye Eugene, arrived at the scene at 17:02 hrs

The truck with registration number AS 8307-Z, owned by Mr. Denis Konsah and driven by Mr. Awudu Ryazan, had multiple dents on the bulk tank, which caused the spillage. Officers from other institutions, including Chief Inspector Frank Appiah and ADO I Anang Nii Otu Solomon, OIC BOST, were also in attendance.

The crew tactically controlled the situation and washed away the spillage using foam.

No casualties were recorded, and no salvage was effected. The team returned to base at 9:59 PM.
