A Ghanaian man identified as Stephen has accused his girlfriend, Bridget Adutwumwaa, a student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), of deceiving him throughout their relationship while allegedly dating another man at the same time.

Speaking on Oyerepa Afutuo, hosted by Auntie Naa on Friday, August 7, 2026, Stephen claimed he invested heavily in Bridget’s life and education after they agreed to marry once she completed school.

According to him, he met Bridget before she entered her final year at UEW and promised to support her financially.

“My name is Stephen. I deal in Multi TV decoders and installation. I met Bridget Adutwumwaa when she was about to go to Level 400 at the University of Education, Winneba. I told her I would cater for her and support her education, then marry her after she completed school, and she agreed,” he said.

Stephen alleged that he only discovered Bridget was involved with another man after attending her late brother’s funeral. He claimed she handed him her mobile phone to keep, but repeated calls from a contact saved as “My Better Half” raised his suspicion.

“She gave me her phone because she was busy. One of the calls came from a contact saved as ‘My Better Half.’ I handed the phone to her to answer it, but she became angry, thinking I had already spoken to the caller,” he stated.

He further alleged that Bridget later admitted the caller was her boyfriend before changing her story and describing him as a cousin.

“I later contacted the same person saved as ‘My Better Half,’ and he confirmed he was in a relationship with my girlfriend,” Stephen claimed.

According to Stephen, he subsequently reported the matter to Bridget’s family, where he said they apologised over the situation. However, he decided to demand the return of the money and items he had spent on her after she allegedly continued to disrespect him.

“I spent GH¢50,000 on her within a year. I also paid for her passport, bought her a tablet and other items. I have decided to retrieve everything because she later tried to make me look like a fool,” he alleged.

Responding during the same programme, Bridget Adutwumwaa admitted that she was in relationships with two men at the same time but apologised for her actions.

“I dated two men. The other man is a teacher. I really don’t have a reason for being in relationships with both of them. I am sorry for everything,” she said.

Bridget, however, disputed parts of Stephen’s account, insisting he was not solely responsible for her education and clarifying that she is not a qualified nurse.

“This man never proposed to me. We were not together for a year. I am not a nurse; I am a student at Winneba studying a health-related programme. You were not the one catering for my education. Please, Auntie Naa, ask him to forgive me and let everything go. Since he wants his money back, my brother is on his way to the studio because I am still in school,” she added.

The case also sparked intense debate among viewers who followed the live broadcast of Oyerepa Afutuo. While some commenters argued that Bridget should be compelled to refund the money and other items Stephen claimed to have spent on her, others insisted that gifts and financial support offered during a relationship should not be reclaimed after a breakup.
