Kumawood stars unite to honour late Kwadwo Kwakye at one-week observance

Ghana’s Kumawood fraternity gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of veteran actor Kwadwo Kwakye Obuobi, popularly known as Sir Rostomo, during his one-week observance held in Kumasi.

The solemn event brought together several prominent figures from the local movie industry, including Mercy Asiedu, Vivian Jill Lawrence, Matilda Asare, Paa George, Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin, Uncle Fii and Taylor, who joined the late actor’s family and friends to pay their respects.

Mourners reflected on Sir Rostomo’s contribution to Ghana’s movie industry and the memorable roles that earned him recognition among Kumawood audiences over the years.

His widow and three children received support from colleagues and loved ones who gathered at Abuakwa-Manhyia Methodist JHS, Kumasi, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, to comfort the family and honour the late actor.

Sir Rostomo’s death has left a significant gap in the Kumawood community, with colleagues and fans continuing to remember his impact and contributions to Ghanaian cinema.
