Ghanaian rapper Denning Edem Hotor, popularly known as Edem, has earned international recognition after delivering a standout performance at the 40th anniversary celebration of the Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage in New York.

The Volta-born artiste was the only Ghanaian act featured at the renowned outdoor music festival, where he performed before a diverse audience at Crotona Park in a show organised in partnership with GhanaFEST-NY.

Edem, supported by a live band, thrilled fans with a selection of songs from his catalogue, highlighting his lyrical strength and his influence as one of Ghana’s leading rap figures.

The event, which has hosted some of the world’s biggest artistes since its establishment in 1986, attracted music lovers from different backgrounds, including members of the African diaspora who celebrated Ghanaian culture through his performance.

The New York appearance came during a successful year for Edem, following the release of his popular single “Gota”, a song that has gained widespread attention and become a cultural expression among young fans.

The Ewe-language title, which means “we’re outside,” has grown beyond music, becoming a phrase used across social media platforms to represent enjoyment, freedom and living in the moment.

Edem’s SummerStage performance further highlights the growing international reach of Ghanaian music and reinforces his position as an artiste committed to promoting Ghana’s sound beyond the country’s borders.

With a successful local hit and a major international stage appearance, Edem continues to demonstrate that Ghanaian rap remains capable of making an impact on the global music scene.
