Two killed, 10 injured in Dompoase crash on Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway
Two people have been confirmed dead while ten others have sustained various degrees of injuries following a road crash at Dompoase on the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway on Friday evening.
The Komenda Fire Station rescue team responded to a distress call at about 6:55 p.m. and arrived at the scene to find one victim trapped inside a Toyota Hiace commercial vehicle with registration number AS 6145-24. Firefighters successfully rescued the victim from the wreckage.

Preliminary reports indicate that the Toyota Hiace was carrying ten passengers, all of whom sustained injuries in the crash. Three of the victims suffered severe injuries and, together with the others, were transported to the Elmina Polyclinic for medical attention.
Personnel from the National Ambulance Service later confirmed that two of the victims had died from their injuries.

According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred after an unidentified vehicle travelling from Takoradi towards Cape Coast allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle.

The driver of the oncoming Toyota Hiace, which was heading from Cape Coast towards Takoradi, reportedly swerved in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision but crashed into a broken-down truck with registration number GN 2491-14 that was parked along the road.
Authorities are expected to commence further investigations into the cause of the crash.
