Apostle Safo funeral preparations underway at Gomoa Mpota despite High Court injunction

Preparations for the final funeral rites of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, are underway at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region despite a High Court injunction seeking to halt the funeral and burial arrangements.

Workers are currently putting the final touches on the venue, with decorations, canopies, seating arrangements and other logistical preparations progressing steadily ahead of the funeral, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

The preparations come amid an ongoing legal dispute over the funeral arrangements. The High Court is reported to have issued an interim injunction directing that the funeral be temporarily suspended pending the determination of the case. Despite the court order, activities at the venue continue as organisers intensify preparations for the ceremony.

Scores of Kristo Asafo Mission members, relatives and sympathisers have gathered at the venue to support the funeral preparations and show solidarity with the family of the late spiritual leader.

As the scheduled funeral date approaches, many observers are closely monitoring developments to see whether the funeral will proceed as planned or whether further legal action will affect the ceremony.
