GMet Forecasts Thunderstorms and Rainfall in Parts of Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Service (GMet) has predicted thunderstorms across parts of the western northern sector and the transition zone on the morning of Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

In an update shared on X, the Service said some coastal and inland areas are likely to experience light rainfall during the morning and afternoon periods.

GMet also indicated that areas within the forest and mountainous zones could record patches of mist during the early hours of the day.

The weather agency provided a regional outlook showing that different parts of the country will experience varying conditions, including rainfall, cloudy skies, mist and thunderstorms.

In the coastal and southern parts of Ghana, light rain is expected in communities including Aflao, Anloga, Accra, Kasoa, Winneba, Cape Coast, Takoradi and Axim.

Misty weather conditions are likely in areas such as Ho, Koforidua, Akim Oda, Kwahu Tafo, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa and Sefwi Bekwai, while rainfall is expected around Kete Krachi.

For the transition and northern sectors, mostly cloudy conditions are forecast for Atebubu, Yendi, Tamale, Bolgatanga and Nalerigu.

The Service said misty conditions may occur in Ejura and Goaso, with rainfall expected in Kintampo, Sunyani, Techiman and Sampa. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are also likely in Bole, Damongo, Wa and Jirapa.

GMet further warned that sea conditions remain rough and advised coastal residents, fishermen and other sea users to take the necessary precautions.
