The Accra High Court has placed a 10-day interim injunction on funeral preparations being organised by former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, for her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

The order, granted on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, temporarily bars the continuation of activities related to the funeral and burial until the court determines the issues brought before it.

As a result, arrangements for the final funeral rites of the renowned inventor, industrialist and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission have been suspended pending the expiration of the injunction or any further directive from the court.

The development comes amid a legal dispute over the organisation of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s funeral and matters surrounding the authority to oversee the arrangements.

Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, whose work in religion, innovation and local manufacturing earned him national recognition, has been widely celebrated for his contributions to Ghana’s development.

The court is expected to hear the substantive case within the 10-day period and determine the appropriate next steps after considering the arguments of the parties involved.

Additional details regarding the applicants, respondents and the grounds upon which the injunction was granted are expected to become clearer as the legal process progresses.

The funeral rites were originally scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
