The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially sworn in its National Elections Committee to supervise all activities leading to the party’s National Conference, where new national executives will be elected.

The committee was inaugurated by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Smith Dankwa Butey, who urged members to perform their duties with fairness, honesty and professionalism while strictly adhering to the NPP constitution and electoral guidelines.

Former Suhum Member of Parliament Frederick Opare-Ansah will chair the committee, with Atiwa East MP Abena Osei Asare serving as Vice Chairperson. Evans Nimako has been appointed Secretary.

The remaining members are Oboshie Sai Cofie, Anthony Abayifa Karbo, Salam Ama Appianin Damata, Eric Ntori, the Ashanti Regional Chairman, who will officially join the committee after the Ashanti Regional Elections, and legal practitioner Frank Davies.

The committee has been tasked with coordinating, managing and supervising every stage of the electoral process leading to the National Conference, including the conduct of elections in line with the party’s constitution and established regulations.

Speaking after the inauguration, Chairman Frederick Opare-Ansah expressed gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting the committee with the responsibility and pledged that members would carry out their work with commitment and integrity.

He said the committee’s responsibility extends beyond organising elections, noting that it is also expected to safeguard the party’s democratic principles, unity and credibility.

Mr Opare-Ansah assured party members that every aspect of the process would be transparent, fair and consistent with the party’s rules.

He appealed to all aspirants, party executives and delegates to cooperate with the committee by complying with the laid-down procedures to ensure a peaceful and credible election.

According to him, the committee will maintain continuous engagement with key stakeholders throughout the process to encourage openness, address concerns and build confidence among participants.

He acknowledged that internal elections often involve intense competition but stressed that the exercise should ultimately unite the party rather than create divisions.

“Our goal is not only to organise a successful election but also to ensure that the party emerges stronger, more united and well-prepared for the national assignment ahead. Every aspirant and delegate must be confident that the process will be transparent, impartial and that each vote will be counted fairly,” he said.

The committee chairman further pledged that the body would carry out its work independently, objectively and without bias, assuring contestants that equal treatment for all would remain its guiding principle.

The NPP leadership expressed confidence that the committee possesses the experience, expertise and integrity needed to conduct a transparent and credible election that upholds the party’s long-standing democratic values.
