Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has rejected claims that arrangements for the funeral of the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka remain unresolved, insisting that the burial rites will proceed as scheduled from Thursday, July 30.

Her comments follow a statement by her brother, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, Head of the Safo Family and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, who had indicated that disagreements over the funeral plans had not been settled, making it difficult to announce a burial date.

However, speaking on Accra-based Angel FM, Adwoa Safo disputed the claim, saying the funeral committee had completed preparations after engaging key stakeholders, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

She alleged that Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I failed to proceed with an earlier funeral arrangement scheduled for June 25, resulting in the decision to hold the final funeral activities in the last week of July.

According to her, the burial ceremony will take place at Gomoa Mpota on July 30, followed by the main funeral service at the Independence Square on July 31. She added that a thanksgiving service will later be held at Asante Mampong in Kumasi on August 8.

“On July 30, we will travel to Gomoa Mpota to lay my father to rest. The following day, July 31, the funeral service will be held at Independence Square, and on August 8, we will go to Asante Mampong for the thanksgiving service. The public should disregard reports that the funeral has been cancelled or will not take place,” she said.

The former MP also revealed that she has successfully undergone surgery after sustaining gunshot injuries during the coronation ceremony of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I.
