Ghanaian singer and songwriter Peter Famiyeh Bozah, popularly known as Fameye, has revealed that his breakthrough hit “Praise” was inspired by one of the most difficult periods of his life and career.

Speaking in an interview, the award-winning musician disclosed that before the success of ‘Praise’, he had released 55 songs without landing a major hit, a situation that left him frustrated and searching for validation.

Reflecting on that period, Fameye said, “This song is a true-life story. I had released 55 songs, but none of them became a hit. Then I lost myself. It was like I was more focused on chasing hit songs than staying true to myself. But where I come from, it’s not just about hit songs. There is something in me that people must hear. There is a message in me that people must hear. So whether a song becomes a hit or not, Peter doesn’t care. I’m telling the truth about my real-life story. That was the time I found Peter. Before then, I was just Fameye. Everything felt different when Peter came in.”

According to the ‘Nothing I Get’ hitmaker, rediscovering his true identity changed his outlook on music and life, allowing him to focus on authenticity rather than commercial success.

Explaining the deeper message behind ‘Praise’, Fameye added, “If you want to listen to people, you won’t go far.”

Released in 2019, ‘Praise’ became the song that propelled Fameye into mainstream success, earning widespread acclaim for its relatable lyrics, inspirational message and emotional storytelling. The song remains one of the biggest records in his catalogue and is widely regarded as the turning point in his music career.
