Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, popularly known as Baby Jet, has announced the passing of his father with an emotional tribute shared on social media.

The legendary Ghanaian footballer expressed gratitude to his late father for the sacrifices he made for the family, describing him as someone whose love and support would never be forgotten. He accompanied the post with a video compilation of his father.

“I’m happy you saw my greatness, Dad. Thank you for taking care of us. You will forever be in our hearts. R.I.P. (ASASE J),” Asamoah Gyan wrote.

Although the former Sunderland, Al Ain and Kayserispor striker did not disclose the cause of death or provide further details, the post has drawn an outpouring of condolences from fans, fellow footballers and well-wishers, who have taken to social media to sympathise with him and his family.

Asamoah Gyan is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest footballers, having captained the Black Stars and become Africa’s all-time leading scorer at the FIFA World Cup with six goals. Throughout his career, he has often spoken about the importance of family and the role they played in his success.

The passing of his father marks a difficult moment for the football icon, with many Ghanaians joining him in mourning and offering prayers for strength and comfort to the bereaved family.
