Bishop Bowers School Wins 2026 Southern Sector Perfect Series Contest, Takes Home GHC 6,000

Bishop Bowers School in Accra has been crowned overall champions of the 2026 Southern Sector Perfect Series Basic Schools Assessment Contest. The final was held at the Accra Academy SHS Auditorium.

In their first appearance at the competition, Bishop Bowers School secured first place with a strong performance. For their victory, the school received a GHC 6,000 cash prize, a trophy, medals, Citation and textbooks.

Ideal Community Basic School took second position with 349 point, awarded GHC 4,000, a trophy, citation, medals, and textbooks. Salvation Army Basic ‘B’ finished third with 344 points, receiving GHC 3,000, a trophy, medals, and a citation.

Salvation Army Basic School ‘A’ placed fourth with 327.5 points and took home GHC 2,000. Mamprobi Basic School and St. Theresa Basic School, North Kaneshie, tied for fifth position with 322.5 points. Each school received GHC 1,000, a citation, and textbooks.

Pastor Phillip Sarpong, CEO of Perfect Star Media and organizers of the contest, congratulated all participating schools. He urged the government to partner with the Perfect Series Basic Schools Assessment Contest, noting its role in improving learning outcomes.

He explained that the contest moves students away from rote learning. “Some years back, students often used ‘chew and pour’ methods. They memorized and reproduced answers without understanding,” Pastor Sarpong said. “But now things have changed. Children have to read the question, understand it, and then write. That helps them develop something for themselves.”

Robert Asare, Assistant Headmaster at Bishop Bowers School, credited the victory to the hard work of learners and teachers. He revealed that the school was invited last year but could not participate. “We decided to join this year for the first time, and we have been crowned champions,” he said.

He thanked God for the victory and praised the organizers for the “laudable program.” He expressed hope that the school would also win the national contest scheduled for October.
