Ghanaian actress and media personality Joselyn Dumas has called on investors and industry stakeholders to provide stronger financial support for the country’s creative sector, arguing that talent without proper backing cannot guarantee success.

Speaking at the Creative Economy Summit in Accra on July 22, 2026, the award-winning actress said many Ghanaian creatives struggle to move their work from ideas to profitable ventures due to limited investment and weak distribution channels.

According to Joselyn Dumas, known for her roles in film and television, Ghana is home to many gifted creators who only need the right structures and partnerships to compete globally.

“It’s not just about it being a good project; you need investors. So one of the things that we are lacking, one of the biggest gaps here is investors. So if there are any investors here, I’m calling on you. We are ready; we have products. There are so many talented individuals created here in Ghana. We just need to create an ecosystem that makes it very easy for us to thrive as creators,” she said.

She also highlighted poor access to wider audiences as a major challenge, noting that several quality Ghanaian productions struggle to reach viewers beyond the country because of distribution limitations.

Drawing comparisons with other African markets where she has worked, including Nigeria and South Africa, Dumas acknowledged Ghana’s smaller population but insisted that collaboration with other markets could create more opportunities.

“I keep hearing the numbers thing. We don’t have the numbers in Ghana; Nigeria has the numbers, but we are happy to partner,” she added.

Joselyn Dumas concluded that with increased investment, improved distribution networks and stronger partnerships, Ghana’s creative industry has the potential to become a major contributor to the economy.
