A 49-year-old TikToker identified as Rita Konadu, popularly known as “Mamaone”, has reportedly been arrested by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) over alleged offensive remarks made against President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama.

Rita Konadu, who uses the TikTok handle the_onlymamaone1, is accused of making derogatory statements about the President and his wife in a video shared on the social media platform.

Reports suggest that she was picked up at Juaben in the Ashanti Region and is currently being transported to Accra to assist the police with investigations and subsequent legal procedures.

A video sighted on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, showed the suspect in handcuffs while in police custody.

Her arrest follows a recent trend of legal actions against individuals accused of making comments deemed offensive towards the President on social media platforms.

Another TikToker, Camila Alhassan, was previously arrested over similar allegations and later appeared before the Accra Circuit Court.

On July 16, 2026, Camila pleaded guilty to offensive conduct and was sentenced to one year imprisonment with hard labour.

The police explained that her TikTok video was considered capable of creating public disorder and threatening national unity, which influenced the decision to charge her.
