“I saw Daddy Lumba’s body in the coffin” – Akuapem Poloo dismisses funeral rumours
Ghanaian actress and socialite Rosemond Alade Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, has rejected claims that the remains of legendary highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known as Daddy Lumba, were not present at his funeral.
According to Akuapem Poloo, she attended the final funeral rites of the music icon in Kumasi and personally saw the body in the coffin, describing the claims circulating on social media as surprising.
“When I went, everything was fine. I saw the comments on social media. Maybe because they did not see the body. I saw Lumba’s body in the coffin when I attended his funeral. I saw that it was my daddy. Maybe the person saying it did not get the chance to see the body. Or they did not see the body properly. Maybe they have eyesight issues,” she said.
The actress explained that she was able to identify Daddy Lumba because she had encountered him years earlier during her time as a video vixen.
“I first saw Lumba physically when I went to perform as a video vixen. So when I went to the funeral, that was his body I saw,” she revealed.
Her comments follow public discussions and conspiracy theories that emerged after Daddy Lumba’s December 2025 funeral, with some questioning whether the body displayed at the ceremony was truly that of the celebrated musician.
The controversy intensified after former family head Abusuapayin Kofi Owusu claimed that Daddy Lumba had been buried at his East Legon residence in Accra, despite the funeral being held in Kumasi. The claims led to calls for further investigations, including a statement from the Ga Traditional Council requesting the exhumation of the body.
The funeral had already generated significant attention following a family legal dispute that temporarily delayed burial arrangements before the court allowed the rites to continue. Kofi Owusu was later removed from his position as family head.
Akuapem Poloo’s comments have added another voice to the debate, as she insists her personal experience at the funeral confirms that Daddy Lumba’s remains were present.
