The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, welcomed a delegation from the Dagbon Traditional Council that officially announced the death of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II.

The delegation was headed by Nanton Naa Bawa, who conveyed the sad news to the Asantehene and also extended an invitation to the seventh-day Islamic prayers to be held in memory of the late Ya-Na on Thursday, July 24, 2026.

During the meeting, the delegation further informed Otumfuo Osei Tutu II that arrangements had been made for the installation of a regent to oversee the affairs of the Dagbon Kingdom, with the ceremony scheduled for July 31, 2026.

Among those who accompanied the delegation were Pishigu Lana Alhassan, Bamvim Lana Ziblim, together with several chiefs and elders representing the Dagomba community in Kumasi.
