Police arrest five over alleged armed robbery and landguard activities in Sapeiman

The Accra Regional Police Command has apprehended five suspects believed to be members of a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in armed robbery and landguard operations at Sapeiman Faase in the Greater Accra Region.

The arrests were made on Friday, July 17, 2026, during an intelligence-driven operation carried out jointly by the Accra Regional Police Command and the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID).

In a statement released on Monday, July 20, the Police identified the suspects as Torgbui Agah Semaglo, 50, Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22, William Kweku Sedanu, 21, Cyril Kassenu, 26, and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18.

Police investigations indicate that the five are suspected to be part of a criminal network linked to armed robbery and landguard activities in Sapeiman and surrounding communities.

During a search of the suspects’ premises, officers recovered a cache of items, including a pump-action shotgun, a Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, a replica Austria pistol, a jackknife, a face mask, 12 BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one AK-47 round, a talisman and two kitchen knives.

According to the Police, the suspects are believed to have used the seized weapons and other items to threaten and intimidate residents in the area.

The statement noted that all the recovered items have been retained as exhibits to support ongoing investigations.

The five suspects remain in police custody while investigators work to establish their possible involvement in other armed robbery incidents and related offences.

The Accra Regional Police Command also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down additional suspects believed to be connected to the group.

The Command expressed appreciation to members of the public whose information contributed to the successful operation and encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities through the nearest police station or emergency lines.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the Greater Accra Region.
