A three-year-old boy has been rescued from drowning by the Nkawkaw Fire Station Visibility Team during a community outreach exercise at Nkawkaw Kwamang in the Eastern Region.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the incident happened while members of the team were conducting a routine public engagement with the Chief Executive Officer of Access Pub and Restaurant, Madam Asantewaa.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Service disclosed that the firefighters noticed the child struggling in a nearby stream and quickly moved to intervene.

The team successfully retrieved the boy from the water, averting what could have resulted in a tragic outcome.

“The team spotted the child in distress in a stream near Access Pub and Restaurant while interacting with the facility’s CEO, Madam Asantewaa, and swiftly intervened to save his life,” the GNFS stated.

The Service commended the firefighters for their alertness and professionalism, noting that their responsibility extends beyond emergency response to include protecting lives during community engagements.

The GNFS also cautioned parents and guardians to closely monitor children around water bodies and encouraged the public to take precautionary measures to prevent drowning incidents.
